So the instructions say that you just need to hold the lock in your hand and turn the handle toward the top, and it will flip to the other side. My inner handle worked, the outer one did not - it stuck at 10 o'clock and would go no further.I contacted their customer support department, and very shortly later I received an email. Fiona in their support department called me a little while later and tried to work through what the problem was. She called some engineers over to talk, and we had a discussion about what could be going wrong.Their engineer asked me to open up the back of the lock. They waited patiently while I retrieved my screwdriver and got the assembly apart. As soon as I opened up the assembly, the handle moved freely.I mounted the lock (it is EXTREMELY EASY to install, and the package includes the drill bit that you need to make the one hole that differs from an normal door lock). Unfortunately the lock did not work correctly, so they immediately contacted Amazon and had another lock sent to my house within 2 days.I installed that one and it works perfectly.Fiona kept in contact with me through the entire event, and was not happy until I was completely satisfied.Fiona did an AMAZING job, and is to be commended for her dilligence and focus on making sure their products meet with their customers' satisfaction.I plan on getting as many as 4 more for the other buildings and outbuildings around our compound.The locks work with your fingerprint, smart watch, smart phone, small electronic cards, via a number typed on the keypad, the actual included keys (5 of them), a key fob (which I don't have and can't speak to), and if you buy the accessory gateway, you can use your voice command (Alexa, etc.) in your house to open the lock.The electronic keys (all methods except the physical key) all have 4 methods of operation:Timed - good between begin/end time of day the key works, and begin/end date that the key is valid. Permanent - always available.One-time - allowing one unlock of door within one hour of creation.Recurring - which lets you specify the day(s) of the week and the time of the day the key is valid, and lets you specify a start and end date.Each key lets you specify a name, so it is easy to keep track of who owns which electronic key for your lock.The user-interface for the lock's phone application is easy to use, and allows you to easily control the lock and keys.I originally wanted a lock that I could send a command to to lock, so if I realized I hadn't checked the lock before bed, I didn't have to get dressed and go out and make sure the locks outdoors were locked. This lock doesn't appear to support that operation, at least not that I have figured out, but I have it set to lock after 5 seconds, so the door is always locked.You would think that having the door locked all the time would be a pain, but it is so amazingly easy to open - the fingerprint scanner is extremely good and easy to use - that it becomes just a simple gesture while opening the door. And the lock keeps track of a LOT of fingerprints, so you can give out all kinds of access.My property is secure and I'm very happy with my purchase.Good on you, SMONET, for having incredibly talented support reps to help your customers get your products installed and operational! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Look Mom, No Drilling! *by R***R on March 23, 2023* 3/23/2023 Disclaimer: I've only had this lock for 1 dayInstallation is simple: The only thing holding me back from this purchase was the video showing I had to drill a hole in my door. Since my door is a firewall to the garage, I wasn't looking forward to it. But, apparently this is a new model, and no drilling! The installation guide is confusing and the pictures are frankly inaccurate, but regardless installation was simple.Setup just works: Throughout the setup process, 2-3 clicks and a swipe and BOOM! It just works. No errors, no problems, no issues, just worked.Features are excellent: Fingerprint works great. Key, sure. Passcode is great but sometimes it takes a few taps to wake up the LED panel. App unlock is quick. Re-lock time is fully customizable. Speaker has high-med-lowApp: Easy to setup and use. The only feature missing is the status of the door lock, similar to what you would find with a deadbolt lock. I don't have the Gateway so I'm just using the bluetooth connection. I just ordered the Gateway to enable WiFi capabilities.Unboxing: A few things differ from the other videos and reviews on Amazon.1) There is no included drill bit - not needed2) There is no included screwdriver. A regular phillips head bit is just fine3) There is a step in the manual that talks about installation of the included "test batteries". There are no test batteries included so I just used some older batteries from the lock I was replacingPRO TIP: There are some negative reviews on this site about the device failing. This could be due to using batteries that are too powerful for the unit. I watched a great video recommending Alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries. The Amazon Basics rechargeable AA batteries I tried actually didn't fit (a little wider than typical AA). I used Alkaline batteries so we'll see how that works. There is a nice battery meter on the app so you can see when the batteries are running low.UPDATE 5/23/2023:After having this for 2 months, I still love it. There are a few quirks that are reported in other reviews that I've also noticed.1) The fingerprint reader nearly always takes me 2-3 tries before it's successful.2) If you fail the fingerprint reader 3 times, an annoying siren goes off and you have to use your phone to unlock the door3) Even with the above 2 quirks I still love the fingerprint reader. It saves so much time.4) I did purchase the Gateway, which I think is a must have for this lock. It needs to be relatively close to the lock in order to work, but I couldn't deal without the ability to control my lock from outside the house.
