I care for my 19-month niece full-time, and I shopped around for quite a while before finding the LOOKIKOOS set. I purchased these when she was 15 months old and they show no signs of wear despite their frequent use and my niece's sometimes aggressive toddler play. They're also quite nice to look at and are a welcome change to the bright plastic toys that often take over the rooms in our home. I started her out with four of the instruments: the tambourine, hand drum, maraca, and hand bells. She was able to play each one almost immediately, and four months later, they remain staples in her music basket. I love that she can grab those for independent play without me worrying about her safety. She has a tendency to run around and start dancing with the instruments, so I keep the ones with mallets separate and take them out during our music time together. As she gets older, these too will be great for independent play. We recently had a backyard barbecue with older kids ages 4-12, and the instruments were a HUGE HIT! The 12-year-old was just as interested in playing them as the younger ones. I'm confident that this set will grow with my niece for many years to come.
