I.e. when you turn your light off manually, it just sends a signal to the ZigBee unit to toggle the bulb power. You could put the unit in the ceiling, but your switch would become a master power switch and kill the power to the ZigBee unit - making it operate more like a smart bulb. If you only want remote power control then this is an option - but you lose the main benefit of converting your switches. Better idea then is to swap out your back box for something bigger (I use 45mm deep boxes but 35mm should work - unfortunately British standard 25mm is not deep enough). Worth the extra effort! **Q: Will the dimmer show in homekit when connected to a philips hue bridge (like the samotech one does)?** A: Hello, the current version does not support apple homekit.
