Review: Wind turbine model, without functionality - Considering the price of nearly £50, this is not a good value kit. The pieces are robust and it is easy to assemble. But the turbine does not spin when placed outdoors, even in quite gusty wind, no matter how the blades are angled. Therefore, it doesn't teach the intended lesson of 'Wind Power'. Further, in order to build the included car, the wind turbine must be disassembled - as the turbine and the car use the same motor. Once built, the car is front-heavy, making it difficult for the weak motor to push. Very disappointing.

**Q: My 4 year old is obsessed with wind turbines. Can this just run by itself indoors? Just for him to sit and watch?**
A: Thank you for your question. Wind Power 4 comes with an output mode. This means you can put a charged rechargeable battery (or an alkaline battery) in the turbine and switch it to output mode, which will spin the axle (which the blades connect to). Alternatively, you can charge the rechargeable battery by placing the turbine outside on input mode on a windy day. Then that energy can be used to turn the axle on output mode.

**Q: What types of batteries does it charge?**
A: Thank you for your question. Wind Power 4 charges a rechargeable AA battery.

**Q: Is the connector usb ?**
A: The wind turbine generator can charge rechargeable batteries, or run off of batteries. There are no USB connections.

**Q: Can you make it spin on its own without wind?**
A: Yes, you can spin the blades manually by hand or with a powerful fan. You can also set it to spin using battery power.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Lots of wind

I found that in order to turn the turbine blades, you needed a lot of steady wind. Putting it in my garden with a fence, trees and bushes nearby was pointless. Also, if you took it to a park, you'd need to wait all day for the batteries to be charged. I found it useful for demonstration purposes during a wind power activity for students in a secondary school. However, it was only useful with the wind turbines being turned by the use of the rechargeable batteries in the back.
