Review: Easily MIDI up keyboards like the old days - When Midi was invented you could plug two (or more) keyboards (assuming they were equipped with Midi sockets) together and play one with the other. Simples. Then along came the 2000s and keyboard manufacturers switched to USB Midi. WHY??? You had to use a computer as an intermediary. Not ideal, particularly if said computer runs one of those ghastly operating systems like Windows. This little box solves all that. Use the supplied USB-B-to-USB-A cable, USB-B into a keyboard with only a USB midi socket. Plug USB-A end into the box. Connect an old school 5-pin Midi cable between the box and a keyboard with 5-pin Midi socket. You'll need another USB-A-to-USB-B (not supplies) to power the box. Then, hey presto, you can play your keyboards with Midi just like the old days :)
Review: Works perfectly - Great for usb to midi port

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If if plug the usb into my laptop and the xlr cables into my studio speakers, will the audio coke out my speakers? or do i need a 3.5mm cable?**
A: Hi,

No, this is a MIDI interface, not audio. The connectors are not XLR, they are 5 pin DIN.

You are going to need something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/behringer-UMC-404HD-Behringer-Interface/dp/B00TTX73YA

(no affiliation, just did a search)

You will still need PA though, unless you have active speakers.

Hope this helps,

Paul

**Q: Can this device be used to us a roland gokeys to play korg volca or similar item? i'm not sure if the gokeys puts midi out of the usb or if only bt**
A: If you go on the Roland website and look up the specs of your keyboard you will find this:
"USB COMPUTER port: USB Micro-B type (MIDI)" which suggests that it does.

**Q: hi, will this cable allow me to connect my keyboard to my ipad? thanks Pete**
A: I don’t think it will// But not sure

**Q: Will this work on a digital piano with a midi out socket only?**
A: I would have thought it would work with a Piano with midi out only. Although you would be able to do is send the keystrokes from the Piano to be recorded by midi recording software on the computer.
What you wouldn't be able to do is send the midi data from the computer to the Piano, because well the piano doesn't have a midi input.

So all you'd end up with on the computer is playing back the midi notes with sounds generated by the PC.
