You have to drill holes in the bottom to mount. I think some people said they used double sided tape. I lined mine up and made marks with a nail, drilled both holes and mounted perfectly. **Q: Does the power light on this device stay on even when the computer is turned off?** A: Is your power LED on or off when the system isn't running. It will depend on the way your motherboard handles power to the USB ports. My motherboard allows you to set a jumper to use the +5V rail from the power supply that does go off and on with the system's operation. The motherboard also allows you to use the +5VSB (the SB means standby) to power the USB ports. That stays power supply stays on as long as the power supply switch (on the back of the PC) is on and the PC is plugged in. Some motherboards may not give you this choice. Check your motherboard manual. If +5V is powering your USB ports the card reader's LED will be off when the system isn't operating. If +5VSB is powering your USB ports then the LED will remain on. Why have a +5VSB? Well that's to allow your front panel power switch to be a "soft" switch that doesn't switch the full load of your system. It also allows other components on your motherboard to to powered up when the system is not operating. That makes it possible for you to wake the system based on the time of day, by taping a key on the keyboard or clicking the mouse. Those last two require the keyboard and mouse to be getting power all the time. Today, most keyboards and mice are USB devices so motherboard designers use the +5VSB to power the USB ports if they want you to have the "tap to start" feature. Too bad they don't let you chose which USB ports operate that way. I hope that explains it for those who seem to wonder why the other guy is experiencing the power light on or off when the system isn't running. By the way, a little piece of black tape can hide the LED and others have disconnected the LED on some similar card readers by clipping the LED's power lead. I haven't cracked this one open to see if that is possible because it doesn't bother me. **Q: 3.5"? This means, it is not for disc drive front panel bays, right?** A: If you mean a 5.25 inch bay where you install an optical drive, then yes, it will not fit.
