So adding a regular binocular is a pain. In many cases, I use my camera to watch the birds anyways so I didn't miss binocs much. I also had a the same Leica monocular that was super useful with a caveat that I have to use both hands to focus which defeated the purpose. Recently I started to shoot specialized video that added more weight and less room for binocular. Also I have to scout using binoculars as the video VF is a bit complex to observe (with all the guides enabled I am totally shooting by wire). I thought of buying this and I wish I did that long time ago. It is perfect, lightweight - super bright. it just hangs on my neck and I can use single hand to focus and hold etc. It folds into the palm so can easily fit in the pocket if you are going to sports events or concerts. It is a bit expensive and you can get dedicated bird watching binoculars. I have owned my pair for more than thirty years and have never found a need for lens protectors. These fit in a shirt pocket perfectly, while hiking or hunting I leave the lanyard around my neck and pull the binoculars out as needed.
