My new home office is a small 40 in x 20 in desk, 29 in tall, and the my Audio Engine P4 speakers are on either side of my MacBook. My old desk was a 60 in by 30 in desk, 36 in tall. The old setup had the speakers 7 inches higher, and the front of the speakers were almost twice as far away from where I sit (24 inches vs. around 12 now.) The new desk dropped the speakers much lower, and were much closer, so the sound field was much smaller and more difficult to optimize. My goal was to recreate an audiophile type near field monitor setup at a reasonable price using my existing AudioEngine P4s, but with a smaller (in size) amp at my smaller home office desk setup. In the new setup, before I used these stands, I had my speakers tilted a couple of degrees using a small rubber pad on the front. Review: These work like they should! - Good construction. Soft plastic/rubber material that, in an audio studio w/o a mosh pit, should stand up to anything that is in there. These will pretty much outlast you, so make sure they are in your will. I could tell my bass response was MUCH better as soon as I put in my reference CD. I happen to use Rush, Roll the Bones - it's sonic quality is easy to 'tune' speakers for my ear (make sure you find a song that you can go to every time YOU get behind new monitors!) in my opinion. MUCH more Getty in every song which was nice of course. Other than that, it's just hard to imagine why these were so much money for what they are but in the end, they ARE one of the cheapest monitor stands that I found.
