As noted, this is a green dot sight. The MSR is very well made and appears to be very durable. Others have complained about the flip up lens covers and while they are a bit difficult to close it seems to be a nuance in technique rather than a design flaw. They close fine if you apply downward/forward pressure on the lower portion of the cover. The green dot is crisp and brightness settings are ample for a variety of conditions. More than 4 at low light seems to produce a bit of an emitter glare but that’s no big deal. 6-8 in daytime seems best for my eyes (slight astigmatism). Control knob is slightly stiff but loosened up after a few setting changes. Not an issue. Sight mounted fine on the MCK rail and is an absolute co-witness with the Magpul MBUS. Glass is clear and crisp - even through the lens covers being down. Again, no issue there. Zero easily achieved and held after a session of over 100 rds. I have other SIG optics and the MSR holds true to the design, ease of use and visual appeal of the others I own. No complaints for a $100 optic on a range/home defense toy. Would highly recommend. If so how bad did the red dot look?** A: I have a really bad astigmatism and what I do in order to use any Red Dot on a rifle is I always put up my rear backup site. It eliminates the flare and creates a really crisp Dot. If it's going on a pistol I don't think the flare is going to be enough to affect your shot. **Q: Is this good for cqc, or just past 25 yds? yds?** A: This Sig Romeo red dot works fine for plinking steel gongs or reactive range targets with rimfire & centerfire carbines.The caliber of your weapon determines the range of the targets you engage by the point of impact you site in for. I have noted with lens covers down you have a decreased field of view for engaging targets with both eyes open. I mounted it on an HK Claw mount for a 9MM MP-5 carbine and it will ring a few steel plates, silhouettes, and pepper poppers at 25-45 meters. No CQB action here on the farm. **Q: Is this shipping to California? Item says it won't ship to my location.** A: Try a pickup hub or box. Some Amazon items I order won’t go to an Amazon box or hub, but will come to my house, and others the opposite is true. I don’t know why, but optics like this aren’t regulated regulated in CA. CA is a lovely place, ignore the hater. **Q: Will these have an absolute zero cowitness with the magpul mbus gen2 flip up sights?** A: Co-witness is not a thing. Don’t minimize the advantage of either by trying to sight one with the other. Red dots by nature have a 2.5 to 3.5 inch height over bore due to the mount. Iron sights not as much. Would highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ affordable and good *by A***J on March 21, 2026* great sight for the money ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality optic *by T***K on March 29, 2020* Yes the MSR does not have all the features of the Romeo5 red dot like the extra low mount, motion activation, longer battery life, and the use of a more common battery. However where the MSR red dot shines is in its simplicity. It is very easy to install with the tool provided and has very clear glass for a red dot. MSR has two more bringhtness settings than the Romeo5 and because of the brightness adjustment knob you know what setting you are on at all times. The MSR has attached see through lens covers that stay attached to the red dot which is a plus in my opinion. The CR1632 battery used in the MSR is not as common as the CR2032 in the Romeo5, but is not impossible to find and not very expensive. I also found that the red dot did turn off infrequently when firing, but after a closer inspection this was caused by the batter cap not being tightened down properly (which was user error). After everthing was tightened the MSR has functioned flawlessly and is still going strong.
