**Q: Will this meter really go down to 30dBm?  I bought one that said it would but when I got it it only went down to 40.**
A: Hi there - I am with BAFX Products Support.It can certainly reach 30dBa however to find a location where the sound level is that low you will need to work very hard. Even most "VERY quiet rooms" are going to have a readings of anywhere from 35-45dba.Using it in a room of a house away from any busy streets, with all windows and doors closed, all ventilation off and all air ducts closed and no humans or animals in the room, MAY allow you to get down to 35dBa or so. Reaching a level of 30dba is going to be extremely difficult for most people unless you have a sound proof room.Regards,BAFX Products Support

**Q: Does this show average volume? Concerned that the readout will change too quickly to log the general reading???**
A: Hi there - I am with BAFX Products Support.The previous answer is correct. There are two modes. The first mode simply reads the noise level at a constant rate, continually flucuating as the noise level changes. The other mode as she mentioned is the "MAX" mode. When you set it to this mode it will hold the highest reach noise level since placing the meter on MAX mode. **Q: Are these calibrated before they are shipped?**
A: According to directions it is well calibrated before shipment and recommends recalibration cycle of one year.  Directions tell you how to recalibrate.  Seems to be working for me/

**Q: Which Windows operating systems is this software compatible with?**
A: I have never been able to get the software to work under Windows 10 Pro. It never recognizes the device. I spent many hours trying to get it to work. I tried to get it working on my 8 core desktop, a Microsoft Surface Book, and a Surface Book 2 when I upgraded. I also emailed back and forth with support several times. They tried their best to help, but none of their suggestions worked, so I finally gave up on using the Windows software with this device. It's a shame because the PC connection is one of the reasons I chose this device over other brands. Of course, by the time I gave up, it was well past the return period. Fortunately, as a stand-alone device, this meter works very well. So, even without the PC software, it's a great value. In fact, despite the software issues, I'm still pretty happy with this meter. I hope this was helpful.

Seems to work great. I've probably needed one of these many, many times. Not really required, just wanting to take a sound level and put a number to. Instead of saying "yep, that sounds loud" I can now say "Yes, that is 118.4dB". Honestly, I have no real need for it, but it's great to put a number on sound levels. It's even fun to just play with. I was putting a new audio system in, and was attempting to compare old system levels to new, to see what my new system did for me. As well as test specific frequency outputs to test and set the audio tuning. I'm no scientist, and I'm not exactly setting up my environment and testing methods as such. But for a way to test levels, this thing is small, easy, and seems to be accurate. I really like it. Anyone wishing to audio tune, test exhaust output dB levels, or even maybe a band checking levels, this thing is easy, and simple and puts a number to it instead of "Yeah, I think that sounds louder".
