## Description

Product Description desertcart Basics 2 Pound Non-Stick Bread Making Machine, White From the Manufacturer desertcart Basics

Review: TL/DR: Best budget-friendly bread maker - I've used this bread machine weekly since May 2023, and am very pleased with it. I wanted a way to make bread that didn't have a ton of extra ingredients in it, but also in a way that I could do consistently, even with a busy schedule. This machine really fits the bill. The bread is very good - light and fluffy, but able to be sliced for sandwiches and toast. The machine is very simple to operate, and once you press "start," you walk away from it until it's done. Pros: - So simple to use. Plug in, add ingredients, press button, boom. Bread. - Recipes in the instruction book work great and taste great. - Comes with a measuring cup for liquid ingredients and a measuring spoon for dry measurements of tsp / tbsp. Cons: - The machine is "loud" when it's kneading. You can definitely hear it across the house. The kneading phase is usually 2 or 3 per bread cycle, and it lasts for anywhere from 5-10 minuets at a go. The "loudness" of the machine is subjective, and it personally doesn't bother me. But if you're looking for something that you'll forget is running, then this isn't it. - Like most bread makers, the kneading / mixing paddle at the bottom gets "stuck" in the loaf as it's baking. So getting the bread out means turning the pan upside down and shaking the loaf loose, which leaves a hole in the last 2 pieces of bread. Really not a huge problem, but worth mentioning. Nice to know: - Since you're not adding any preservatives, keep the finished product in the fridge. We've found a 2lb loaf lasts us about a week before getting moldy. - The loaves are a different size than a typical loaf of bread bought at a store. Store bought bread is usually a longer, smaller loaf, whereas there are bigger and shorter in length. - A finished loaf will usually fit in a gallon-sized ziploc bag, to keep it fresh. I'm still searching for the best solution for this. Helpful tips: - I always sift the flour when I add it to the machine - it's helped keep the finished loaf light and fluffy. - Using bread machine yeast (I got a jar of it at Walmart, but you can find it anywhere) versus the small packets makes it easier to measure out the correct amount for the recipe, because one packet of yeast will make 2.5 loaves. You can't just add a whole packet per recipe. - I use a scale to measure the flour needed for each batch, so I don't add too much flour by compacting it in a measuring cup. My favorite recipe uses 490 grams of flour, and that's way easier to keep consistent then how much I'd get using a measuring cup. Food for thought: With bread going for anywhere from $3.79-$6.19 in the store right now, getting this bread maker is an upfront expense that really pays off. Getting all the ingredients to start at Walmart will run ~$15, and each loaf costs about $1.48 make. The ingredient you'll use the most of is the bread flour. All the others - oil, salt, sugar, yeast - you'll be able to make several batches before needing to replace them.
Review: Better Budgeting vs Store bought - I'm not new to bread making machines. Owned a few of the more pricey machines. Found I had to babysit them to make sure that the ingredients- even the basics were fully incorporated into the dough. They didn't last long. Basic use. They should have lived more than 2 years. The cord lengths on them left much to be desired. Too short. The machines really took up the counter space. That needs to be considered in purchasing the right bread machine to suit your needs. When not in use, where will it be stored? This desertcart Basics bread making machine has proven to be a much better. It takes less room on the counter. Storage isn't a problem. Fits under the counter, or pantry. The cord is long. That's appreciated, with limited outlets. This machine is perfect. The instruction book is written for International users. So a novice user might be put off by some of the ingredients. Milk powder/ Dry milk= Powdered milk Cake oil= Neutral oil, Vegetable,Canola, Sunflower Refined flour= Regular white flour, All purpose or Bread flour Flavoring essence= Vanilla or other extracts I would highly recommend using desertcart Resale. Saving with new or used options Same warranty. The money you will save by making your own vs store bought. Is already a game changer. Everything you could possibly need to make your own custom loaves, is much cheaper to buy on desertcart. Another thing to consider. What do you buy for convenient breads, rolls, frozen pizzas, that the grocery stores are price gouging you? They don't care. I bought this one. Best purchase I've made. Passed on the Name brands. I wanted quality, not paying for a Brand name. I received it in excellent condition. Put it to work immediately. Chose from the recipe book French bread. Medium crust setting. Let it do it's thing naturally. It kneaded the ingredients perfectly. The kneading noise? Really? My dryer is louder. It took about 3 hours. Start to finish. What came out was pure perfection. Nothing stuck to the pan after baking. A wonderful even browning on all sides. Wait to slice. I know that's the hardest part. I highly recommend this bread machine.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you get the paddle to stay in the machine and not the bread????**
A: If you are going to bake the bread in the pan before the final rise take the ball out and take the paddle out and put the ball back in.

**Q: I have two bread makers that both make 2lbs loaf, but the pan sizes are so different. Why both machines claim for 2lbs with different pan size??**
A: some breads are more dense than others. a 2lb loaf with lots of yeast and dough conditioner might overflow a smaller pan. this machine has a ~2.4 liter pan (~10cups). that's a little on the small side, so whenever i try a new recipe for the first time i make it as a half-size loaf. if you stay under 300g of flour (~2.5cups) you should be fine regardless of the recipe, but 500g (~4cups) would be pushing the limits and might overflow with some recipes. my normal beer bread recipe uses 420g of flour and still has a couple centimeters of air on top. oddly the weight-based system makes sense from the mixing perspective since larger loaves need more kneading to get the gluten properly tangled up. if you put a 3lbs loaf in a 2lb machine it might not overflow, but it will probably be way too dense to be tasty because the gluten matrix won't be strong enough to trap the co2 from the yeast.

**Q: Do you have to use specific mix for bread machines or can I use scratch ingredients?**
A: Scratch ingredients. But they do make an instant yeast for bread machines.

**Q: Does it has a power on/off button?**
A: Kind of like your stove, or your permanent microwave: The power is on all the time and the display is illuminated.
There is a START / STOP button, kind of like setting cook times etc on your stove or mic. The bread machine, if left plugged in, does the same thing. Select your 'program', select the crust color; select the loaf size and press START.
No big deal if you leave it plugged in or if you unplug it each time.
I don't think people return their stoves or mics because the menu displays all the time.
