## Description

Beautifully crafted Hario glass teapot is perfect for the perfect brew of loose tea. In Japanese, Hario means "King of Glass".

Review: Super Duper - I usually don't leave reviews for products. Almost never. Actually this might be my first. This should tell you something - to ignore my spelling mistakes and other signs of general illiteracy. But this teapot is fantastic. Some demographic info: I'm a 21 year old man, freshly adult, and recently turned tea snob. So naturally I need a teapot to accompany, nay supplement my loose leaf, nose upturned, calling-tea-color-liqueur lifestyle. Previously I had been brewing my tea in a thermos with a little mesh insert, a practice that if employed by anyone else I would surely mock brazenly. First impressions - I had read almost all of the reviews and some of them had mentioned that this teapot is rather small. When I opened it, I thought to myself "this teapot is rather small". But once I stilled my beating heart and actually made some tea I realized that it's pretty much the perfect size. Filling it close to the top, with a comfortable margin, I get enough tea for two very full mugs, and in my frugally heated apartment the pot keeps the tea piping hot for the second mugful. The basket is nice and large. I've heard others say that this is necessary for the leaves to swim, luxuriate, mingle, copulate, bask in their collective consciousness. Shoot me if I ever anthropomorphise tea leaves like that. But it is nice to have a big basket so that the water actual reaches the center leaves. To that end, it would've been nice if they included a diving board so that the leaves could indulge their inner child (or bud, if you will), but now I'm splitting hairs. It's made of glass, so it's breakable. I haven't broken mine yet, but I reserve the right to in the future, hopefully during the height of an argument. I think it'll shatter very well, but that's just speculation at this point. Only complaint (very minor) is that the handle is kind of hard to grip when the pot is full of hot tea. My hand has a tendency to slip down and touch the hot pot. But I just changed the way I held it, and that's been working well. I'm actually glad, I was getting a little set in my ways. Bottom line - buy it. It's not a samovar, but for one or two people (I can dream, can't I?) it's perfect. Very aesthetically pleasing, functional, the mesh is plenty fine, even rooibos can't sneak through, and I've had almost no stems get stuck. It's top rated for a reason.
Review: 10/10, One of the best things I've ever bought on desertcart - I got the 16oz. size (450ml.), and I could not be happier with it! It allows you to fill with hot water all the way to the top of the mesh screen, and then the glass lid has room to rest on the lip of the mesh screen, without touching the water (so the floating tea leaves won't cling to the lid). It brews a delicious cup of tea, which I think is due to the "squat" shape of the kettle. I have another 16oz. tea kettle in the same "squat" shape, and it brews the best green tea that I've ever had. Many Japanese cast iron kettles are in the same squat shape, so I really do think there's something to the squat shape which makes a better cup of tea. I got this because I'm trying a bunch of teas to figure out which I like best, and though I've mostly been using bagged teas, I knew I would have to check out the looseleaf teas, especially since they're generally better quality than the bagged teas. I have made looseleaf teas in barrel brewers at this point, but, I don't like them that much because the tea is compacted inside and is then hard to clean out so the used tea leaves can be composted instead of rinsed down the sink or tapped into the trash. This Maru tea kettle allows me to let the used tea leaves dry a little bit in the mesh filter, at which point they're easier to tap out. This danged tea kettle is so tiny, but brews a full 16oz. of tea, and I love that!!! That means it's easier to store, which is important to me, since I would like to get another for guests, and I believe I can just turn the lid upside down, and then stack a second kettle on top (hopefully). I also want to get the larger size, too!!! And I want to buy the smaller and larger size to use as a duo gift, so the recipient has two wonderful options of how much tea to brew. You cannot go wrong with these wonderful tea kettles!!! My only complaint is that they're a bit expensive. I highly recommend them, though, I'm sure anyone using these kettles would love them!!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: For how many people is 700ml teapot?**
A: 700mL is about 23 ounces. American-style coffee and tea mugs vary wildly, so the serving greatly depends on you. For comparison, a can of soda is 12oz, so that's two cans. Diner-style mugs are more along the lines of 6-8oz, so that's 3-4 diner mugs. Traditional British teacups that look more like the rest of the world are in the range of 4-6oz, which means roughly 4-6 cups.

**Q: Can you wash the teapot using a dishwasher?
Thanks**
A: I have not done so, because it's so easy to wash by hand. I use the blue, gentle plastic scrub side of the sponge for the glass, and simply run the metal tea basket under clean running water, rubbing it lightly with my fingers if necessary to remove leaves. I'd be concerned with detergent deposits affecting the tea flavor from a dishwasher. This is, of course, only my opinion.

**Q: Can I pour boiling water from a kettle into this? I don't have a microwave.**
A: Yes, it is perfectly safe to pour boiling water into your Hario Chacha teapot. We have been using ours for over two years and absolutely love it. We pour boiling water into our pot, and we also microwave the teapot without the metal screen, it's safe both ways.

**Q: I haven't ventured into loose leaf tea yet. Can I steep bagged tea in this? If yes, how many bags per pot?**
A: hello, yes you could steep tea bags in this tea pot. I would recommend two tea bags, it makes 3 8oz cups of tea. I love my tea pot I use it daily with tea bags and loose leaf.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really the best solution for 'delicate' teas...don't know how I enjoyed them without this glass pot.
*by C***E on January 5, 2015*

For years I've just used my Teavana cast iron tea pot for all my teas & it's been great. As I've been learning more & more about teas I see that my cast iron pot isn't the greatest for certain teas. Being a guy I like simple things, easy to clean things, effective things, & basic 'tools' with character & presence. I know I'm rambling on about a glass tea pot but it fits me perfectly. Researching for something to brew my green & white teas in led me to this little pot. At first this feels very brittle & seems like a bad idea but the quality is amazing. The infusion strainer is perfect. I, having used it twice now, wonder why or how I've been able to enjoy green & white teas without it. The flavor is really night & day versus the results from my cast iron pot. No matter how I prepared it in my cast iron pot greens & whites always seems a little off/unnatural. Size is perfect for me. My favorite mug is 16oz & this 700ml pot (23.6698 US OZ) can easily fill my mug or serve 2 - 10oz cups with room to spare. Not sure why there are so many complaints about the size. 700ml is in the product title. Whether you're brewing loose whites or greens with the infusion strainer or brewing a flowering type of tea without the strainer this is a beautiful elegant design that appears brittle but is surprisingly sturdy. If you're interested in really getting the most out of your delicate teas this is worth the investment. This will join my cast iron pot & my soon to be here yixing tea pot. I'm not sure if it's the fact this pot allows the tea to breath, swim, or 'find their way' any better but it's a different (improved) tasting experience for sure.
