Apply honing compound Apply the chosen paste on one or both sides of the leather. Polish one side of the blade Make a few movements by moving the blade as shown in the picture below, maintaining the correct angle of inclination. When the paste has a temperature of 50Β°C it is very easy to apply. You can also use a hairdryer. For optimal polishing, a very small amount of sharpening paste is needed. They are specially designed for leather, as they have ingredients (like beeswax) that conditions leather strops. Red color is coarse (but still gives finer finish than for example 8000 Japanese Whetstone), White is fine, Green very-fine, and White is ultra-fine. Almost every "true" manufacturer uses his own grit scale marked by color. There are also "false" manufacturers that just buy cheap compounds for machine polishing (high speed, high temperature rotary tools) and sell them as their own. **Q: What's the best way to apply the compound in an even layer?** A: A sufficient amount of honing compound to be applied is about 1g per side. There is no need to cover a thick layer of the entire leather surface. All you need to do is to give it a colour that matches the desired gradation with the paste. We recommend using the included applicator. **Q: How do you use all 5 compounds on only two sides??** A: It is impossible to use all the pastes at once.
