I started out using a hammer and a hand chisel (for concrete) but that was taking a really long time. So, I bought this air chisel bit and borrowed a pancake air compressor that could easily be brought into the room. The air chisel was a Campbell Hausfeld brand - a pretty cheap one. Both the tile and most of the mortar came up pretty easily. The mortar residue left over was a bit more time consuming. My video shows how the chisel bit separates mortar from concrete. It's much faster and easier than doing it by hand. The bit vibrates fast enough that you can simply move it over the old mortar with a little downward pressure. Getting the correct angle between the bit and the concrete is the key, however.
