Softdisc Menstrual Discs | Disposable Period Discs | Tampon, Pad, and Cup Alternative | Capacity of 3 Super Tampons | 14 Count

Review: Soooo comfortable and no leaks! - If you want the semi-TMI, girl talk honest review on these, KEEP READING! Okay, these are an absolute game-changer, especially for those with a heavy flow. Let me start by saying, to use these comfortably you should be/should become very familiar with your anatomy and comfortable being able to reach all up in there (if you know what I’m sayin). Inserting it is easy and comfortable, once it was in I truly couldn’t feel it was there at all! I was super pleased with this. This is my first day and I wore them up to 6 hours at a time - probably could have worn far longer because I had ZERO leaks. Now, removal is where things get a little trickier. For me, my vagina had pretty much eaten this thing (LOL) because it goes in pretty far, behind the public bone, and your muscles pretty much enclose around it. To take it out, you basically hook a finger in the rim and pull it out, but because it was so enclosed in there I prefer to fully relax the pelvic floor, and bear down/give a good push. After this, it was soooo easy and comfortable to pull right out. Disclaimer though, when you bear down/relax your pelvic floor like this, it empties into the toilet, and things get a little crime scene-esque on your finger iykyk. I imagine if you didn’t push first and just pulled it out it would be cleaner, but I just do what feels most comfy. If you are super squeamish with blood I gotta say, I wouldn’t recommend this. After my second try, it was already easy/routine. Overall, these are an amazing alternative to tampons and pads and so much better for your health! I’m never going back! Soooo much more comfortable.
Review: Works for the tilted cervix folks too! Needed to get the hang of it but is pretty life-changing - The first time after I inserted this, I felt like I was going to throw up. But I hung in there and I don't know if I got the hang of inserting it better over the next few times (probably somewhat), or if my sensitive body adjusted to the feeling of having something sitting there over the next few hours. I do likely have endometriosis (unconfirmed but that's coming from my gynaecologist and I have a family history of endo on my dad's side as well), so that may have contributed to the weird/pukey feeling. I was very on the fence about trying these as I wasn't sure if these would work for me due to my weird internal shape and other issues but I'm so happy to report that they did and I wanted to leave a review to help others with the same questions. I have a tilted cervix (anteverted uterus) as well as vaginismus and pelvic pain. I sometimes have trouble/pain inserting even a slender tampon, and tampons also make my cramps worse so I have been trying to get away from them (as well as disposable period products more generally for any environmental reasons). Plus, as most of my period is huge clots (at least for the first couple of days), tampons just do not work well for me and I feel that they actually make my bloating worse also. I actually felt like my cramps were not so severe with this product as they are sometimes with pads or tampons, but it could have just been the case where that cycle was not as bad. I had tried Bambody period underwear and loved it (highly recommend), but I was getting sick of the mess and having to change underwear several times per day on my heavy days. The period underwear is also reasonably practical while at home (which I was full-time during Covid anyway), but not so much when I go back to in-person engineering college. I had really wanted to try a menstrual cup for a while but was hesitant due to the high price points (particularly for the “specialised fit” options), and fear that they just wouldn't work for me. I liked that this was a lower-risk option financially (and I could offer the unused ones to a friend or donate them if they didn't work for me) so I decided to go for it with the idea that if this worked for me, maybe it would be a good stepping stone to try a "real" menstrual cup at some point (I'd been interested in the shape of the Ziggy Intima cup). I had also had read the review by JC re: using one disposable cup per cycle and liked that idea for both environmental and financial reasons, so I tried that and it worked very well for me (i.e., just use one as a regular menstrual cup for your entire cycle, rinsing as you are able, then throw it away at the end of your cycle). I actually *think* the “ring” part might be able to be recycled, so I was going to take either it apart and try that, or just wash the whole thing with soap and water and put it in the plastics bin as I believe it is all plastic. While this doesn’t help me get away from disposable period products 100%, it was something that actually worked well for me and my weird body and it is awesome to only have one disposable product per cycle as opposed to a bunch! A couple of notes for people with really tilted cervixes: The "cup" part may not expand based on your shape and therefore may not collect as much fluid as reported or last quite as long with no emptying. I tried inserting a few different ways but I could never get the pouch to expand for me. For me that wasn’t really a huge issue though, as on my heavy days I am constantly running to the bathroom anyway so I can just “bear down” a little to empty the excess every few hours. I also never had any issues with it leaking overnight, although I would definitely use a backup method to be safe. A couple of notes for people with vaginismus/tight perineal muscles: If you can’t insert a tampon at all, this product might not work for you, but it also might. I still found it slightly painful to insert, but less so than a tampon and I think it slides a little easier, particularly if you can get the hang of it. It does look huge, but it squishes up quite nicely. If you are really on the fence, for most people $14 is a worthwhile risk to take so I would say just try it and if it doesn’t work, you probably didn’t lose too much by trying. Also, consider trying pelvic PT if you haven’t as it might help with some of your pelvic floor symptoms (including vaginismus, constantly feeling like you need to pee, or trouble pooping).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have really heavy periods with lots of clotting. Wondering if this would work for me?**
A: I have ridiculously heavy periods with lots of clotting. I used to use 2 super plus tampons at a time, plus a pad, and would bleed through in an hour. The cup works great for me. I often add a pad as backup on my heaviest days, but still, the cup holds more than 2 super plus tampons. On my heaviest days, I can wear a Softcup about 2 - 2 1/2 hours before leaking. Twice as long (or more) than tampons.

**Q: safe plastic?**
A: It's not exactly plastic. According to the FAQ page of the Softcup website, "Softcup is made of inert, hypoallergenic, non absorbent, non-irritating polymeric material that has been used safely for more than 20 years in health care products such as catheters and baby bottle nipples." You may go to http://softcup.com/how/faqs for more pressing questions people may have about this, and feel free to check out the rest of their site.

**Q: Is this product Latex-free? I'm very allergic to latex**
A: Softcup is not made with latex. :)

**Q: Can this push on your bladder? It seemed much more comfortable after going to the bathroom.**
A: Softcup should not create pressure on your bladder. You may just need to insert it a little differently. Next time you go to insert it, make sure you are pushing the edge that goes in first DOWN toward the floor so that it sits at an angle and fully covers the cervix. Then make sure the front edge (that goes in last!) is tucked above your pubic bone and pushed past it as far as it can go. You can also experiment with different positions to find what works and is most comfortable for you - many women prefer to insert Softcup with one foot on the tub.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The next generation feminine hygiene product!
*by D***E on January 4, 2019*

I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this product. Admittedly, I was nervous and scared to try these but I've read so much about them and I have a very busy schedule that doesn't allow me to use the bathroom often enough during my period to change a tampon (and this product works for up to 12 hours without risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome!). This review will be 100% transparent, raw, and honest so if you are squeamish... look away now. This review will talk openly about the normal, natural, and beautiful female body and the process of making menstruation more comfortable. Firstly, insertion can be confusing and messy, mostly in the beginning. I watched videos on YouTube to help me but, the truth is, you won't really know what you're doing unless you really know your body and are comfortable with it. The videos explained how to insert it, they talked about your cervix, your tailbone, your pubic bone... but where are all of those things inside my body?!? I didn't know!! I highly recommend figuring that out ahead of time if you aren't already aware. Remember: your body is natural, there's nothing to be ashamed of, and it can be empowering to learn and explore your own body. Secondly, every woman is different and every woman's body is different. Your body may change throughout time too. If you have given birth vaginally and/or you have a pelvic floor problem and/or if you have had a prolapse, this will also impact insertion and how the product interacts inside your body. For me, I have to be very careful because of my pelvic floor difficulties - if I cough hard or sneeze hard and I have not physically prepared myself for it, this product can become dislodged from my pubic bone, causing a leakage. If you have not given birth vaginally and do not have any physical problems, you may find that your pubic bone is more pronounced inside your vagina, thus making the product easier for you to use. I was surprised that the product wasn't detectable while in use. It felt as though I wasn't wearing anything! I experienced zero physical discomfort during insertion, removal, or while wearing it. The only discomfort I felt was emotional awkwardness as I tried to figure out how to use it. I do wish that the box came with better instructions but, as stated previously, YouTube is great for that! A few more words of advice: I highly recommend learning about your body before trying this product. Give yourself time and be patient with yourself. Remember that your body is normal, natural, and beautiful. I also can't stress it enough: watch How-To videos. If you will be using public restrooms often while wearing this product, I recommend bringing wet wipes with you. Why? Because it takes a bit of finesse and practice to remove the product without getting blood on your finger(s). Public bathrooms have papery thin toilet paper that will just further frustrate you. If you have a wet wipe, you can easily clean your hand and move on with your life. Once you become at expert at using this product, you may find that you have no need for wet wipes but, as a mother, I feel compelled to nurture all of you by advising that it's better to have the wet wipes and not need them than to not have them and need them. These are certainly the next generation menstruation product! Only a few decades ago, women had to wear belts to hold a giant wingless pad in place. Now we have this product and it's great!
