Review: Bright Lights - Satisifed - Original Review: Added 4 lights to a kitchen with a supposedly compatible dimmer switch but 3 of the 4 lights began to flicker after just a few months. I removed the dimmer switch and replaced it with a standard single pole switch but 3 of the 4 lights ultimately failed barely a year later. Troubleshot the issue and the problem is in the circuit card within the box. Not impressed! UPDATE: March 2, 2023: The company reached out to me and completely rectified my issue. I had originally installed 12 of these lights in multiple rooms and the only problem to date was with 3 of 4 kitchen lights that were on a compatible dimmer switch. I replaced the light boxes and used the same original lights with no further issue in the kitchen. The other 9 of 12 lights work great and have had no issues. The cause of the light failure was the supposedly compatible dimmer switch. I did not trouble shoot the cards as I replaced the 3 boxes. The company resolved my issues and I can say it stands behind this product so I am completely satisfied and upgrading my review. In fact, I was so satisfied that I even ordered a second box of 12 lights for additional future projects. Updated the review to 5 stars based upon the customer service and because the other 9 of 12 lights continue to fully function with no issues. Just beware that a dimmer switch could potentially cause issues with these lights. These lights are extremely bright at 5k so in the future I will just cut down on the number of lights installed rather than use a dimmer switch.
Review: Very happy with these lights. - These lights are bright! I have a 3 car garage and I installed all 12 in my garage. I love everything bright and in my opinion you can never have too much light. I did not use a dimmer. They were easy to install. The metal box things with the transformer in it (one for each light) is a bit flimsy, a few bent very slightly as I pushed the wires through them but they were easy to bend right back and close the doors on them. The quick connects make life so much easier, in fact this was my major reason for buying this brand. I used 14/2 wire because I couldn't find 16/2. At 12watts each light, that's only 144 watts for the entire circuit, which is just over 1 amp. 14/2 romex wire is good for 15amps, so it's a bit overkill. But, I could not find any information on the specs of the push in connectors (they are not the common 'Ideal' brand from Home depot or lowes) so I wasn't sure if they would be rated for 16/2 anyways. 14/2 was the safe bet, and a 250' roll of it at Home depot or lowes is just under $40. The only other thing I had to buy is the push in wire protectors for each box. I used one on each side for the boxes that had one wire in - one wire out. I used a piece of 1/2" pvc pipe to "fish" the wires from one hole to another so I didn't have to get in the attic. I only got up there in the attic one time to get the feed that used to feed the fluorescents I was replacing, I just moved it over to the first light in the series and ran from one light to the next until I had all of them connected. I did kinds cheat and borrow a laser from a good friend and that helped me immensely.

**Q: Are these okay to put up in ceilings with insulation?**
A: Yes, An IC-rated downlight can come into direct contact with, and be abutted by building insulation. 
The IC (insulation contact) rating is a measure used to determine whether a recessed downlight is suitable to come into contact with building insulation. 

It DOES NOT mean 'installation contract' as Michael previously stated. This is a perfect example of someone that doesn't know what they're talking about chiming in with bad information; in this case it's a major safety concern. 
The IC rating, meaning insulation contact,  will ensure there is no chance of a fire hazard due to overheating and is the safest type of recessed light.

**Q: What’s the cutout size?**
A: I just bought a new hole saw set, to put these light In. I used the 6 " saw witch is 152mm. We thought we would have to use a rasp or something to get 3 more mm to make 155 mm. 
But we cut the hole and my husband tried to put the light, and it fit perfect. We don't know why or how, but we right very happy it did lol. So my advice is to try to put the light in before you do anything.

**Q: If you had a 3 plug outlet in you unfinished basement ceiling is there a way to just plug the first one into the outlet after they are daisy chained ?**
A: Plugging affixed lights into an outlet is not per code. But you could connect all 12 lights on one 14 gage romex, wired in parallel and connected to a line direct to a fuse or a breaker. You could wire the line to the outlet you're talking about. Just make sure you use romex and make sure you don't exceed the fuse or breaker amperage with both the lights and whatever you may plug into this outlet.

**Q: I have a 12'x12' room, should I use 4" or 6" lights and how many should I use?**
A: I put ten 4" lights in my mich larger basement. I suggest doing some more measurements. Take your ceiling height and divide it by 2 and you should have your rough spacing between lights. 

I actually fudged this a bit to get an even layout. If you have a low ceiling, you may want to go with the 6" for more spread. My ceiling was 8ft but I spaced at around 42" to make it an even layout. The result gives plenty of light and coverage to the corners.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High quality, bright light

Durability / Reliability The light fixture itself seems pretty solid and durable. The spring clips are more of a concern for me. Spring kind of easily falls off the retainer holding it to the light but once its in place is fine. Also the spring tension almost seems too strong because when I had to remove a fixture to reposition it the spring almost broke out the drywall. Functionality / Versatility I've installed numerous ceiling lights through the years and by far these are the the easiest - Just 'plug n play'! No can needed, and easily strung together in series. As it turns out they are brighter than I expected for my kitchen so I've added a dimmer switch for versatility. Summary Where have these fixtures been all my life!? I've installed numerous ceiling lights through the years. I only planned to use these in the kitchen, but after seeing results I'm replacing utility room, closets, hallway, shop, etc... High quality, bright light, low energy consumption and cost efficient. I'll be purchasing more.
