Review: Classic motherboard - Fascinating option on the motherboard.
Review: Good, cheap and it works - Pretty basic board. This is my first time dropping down into a smaller board so not sure what what's the norm. I don't understand why the Sate connectors are mounted facing up its annoying for cable management. They even put two of them side facing so why not put them all like that? The Bios is clean and easy to navigate. The start up screen looks frankly displeasing to be honest but its something you see for 1-3 seconds. I didn't have any issues with connectors or anything on the board not working. Its the quality I come to expect from MSI. Though I am always weary when computer manufactures put "military grade" on their descriptions. Since that equates to saying the cheapest crap for the highest price, if it actually was military grade.

**Q: Can I plug a GPU into one of the PCI-e 1x slots? (using an appropriate adapter). The motherboard recognizes it, but ATI drivers don't.**

I have a old ZOTAC in my old HP, but for this motherboard, you're better off getting the best quality you can.

**Q: I plan on using a cpu (intel i3-4130) with Integrated Graphics.  Will this mobo support using two monitors if I hook them up to the DVI and VGA outs?**
A: I am using an i5-4570 and doing this right now.  You can actually hook up 3 monitors (using the HDMI port for the 3rd) at once.

**Q: how many fans does this support?**
A: it supports 1 Auxiliary fan...3 in total. 1 is for exhaust fan, 1 is for CPU ONLY, and 1 extra for any other fan. Just buy a power supply with molex connectors and an external fan controller. some cases like the corsair 600T have a built-in fan controller on top of the case to which i have 4 fans hooked up to and controlled by.   the MOBO only runs the heatsink fan and the exhaust.

**Q: How do I power on the motherboard without a case?**
A: At one edge of the motherboard, at the side near the coin battery (silvery disk about the size of a quarter), are several sets of jumper header pins.  Look for the dual row set labeled "JFP1."  "FP" stands for "Front Panel," referring to the devices located on the front of the PC case, including the buttons for power and reset and the LEDs for power and disk activity.  JFP1 is documented on page 22 of the motherboard manual which can be downloaded from here: http://us.msi.com/support/mb/H81M-P33.html#down-manualJFP1 has 2 rows, one with 5 pins, the other with 4 pins (plus a blank spot).  In the row of 4 pins are 2 pins located next to the blank spot.  They normally connect to the power button, but you can turn on the motherboard by momentarily shorting those 2 pins together with a screwdriver, pencil tip, or ball point pen tip.  To turn off the motherboard, short those pins together again, but you may have to short them for 4 seconds before the motherboard turns off.

### ⭐ Finally got around to this. Bah, busy time ...

Finally got around to this. Bah, busy time of year. Ok, the board arrived in it's own unsealed box, no shipping container whatsoever. Upon opening it I noticed that the cpu socket had been left uncovered and the cover was missing. There were also several bent pins. Upon removing the board from the box I noted several scrape marks and pressure marks where some considerable force had pressed the board into the box hard enough to damage the box surface. I also discovered the cpu cover loose under the motherboard. I had little hope at this point but decided to give it a try anyway. The cpu fan spins, but there is no post. The board is too far gone to show signs of life. It's dead Jim. :-(
