BlueAir only produces one set of 3 filters for the 500/600 series. If you go to their website, www.blueair.com you can read about their HEPASilent Technology. The old original blueair filters used to also have an activated charcoal layer as part of the standard filter. They have done away with that extra layer. If you want to filter cigarette smoke they have another smoke filter series called SmokeStop. The original SmokeStop filters had some extra type of ingredients to filter out VOCs etc. The new non SmokeStop filters don't have the activated charcoal layer so it doesn't filter out any VOCs at all. The old ones used to be able to filter out fumes from new carpet out gassing etc, but not the new ones. Older was better. Just another way to make more money now, ha,ha.
