You may need to use an adapter to run from the RCA style connectors on the receiver to the 1/4" connectors on the EQ. Usually on a home receiver you run an EQ through the tape in/out. Tape out to EQ in - EQ out to tape in. Keep the tape monitor selector ON to run the signal through the EQ.
